Synopsis - Netiquette

Netiquette As a mother and an educator I am very aware of the concerns of uploading photos and information on children onto the Net. Other areas of extreme caution are when a child uses the Net as a Social Network. There are many predators in the world wide web and it is advisable to be aware of who your child is chatting to. In a school situation, Net Alert, is a cybersafe area which guides teachers about safety using the net in schools. Children and staff do need to have passwords for security. Plagiarism As a University student I am aware of having permission to use images and referencing material I use on the internet. There are rules to abide by, for example; the 10% paper based copying rule which allows you to use parts of documents but care needs to be taken. Exploitation Using Facebook and other public sites, blogs included, care needs to be taken not exploit others or yourself by using photographs, videos or words which may be perceived by others as impolite or unprofessional.
